Asu no Yoichi 01

Ohnoez, it's the apocalypse of the boobs.

Despite being a harem, Asu no Yoichi could probably fall under the shounen genre as well with its variety of techniques, which have to be shouted out after usage. I’ll probably faint if Yoichi does that again.

Nevertheless, the plot follows Karasuma Yoichi as he descends from the mountain he resides in for “spiritual” training. He is set to meet up with the Ikaruga family and take residence at their dojo. The conflict between him and the modern world proved to be entertaining. Crashing into fitting rooms and landing head-first on another’s underwear definitely foreshadows interesting fanservice.

The OP was pretty upbeat and I pretty much like it, except the initial 3d rendition of the Ikaruga residence; that reminded me of beyblade :/

The ED sounded great and I loved it, I’ll make following Yoichi’s line of sight a hobby…

That aside, it was ironical that the voice actor of Yoichi is Nobuhiko Okamoto, who happens to voice Accelerator and Tomiie-kun from the recent episode of Toradora. The episode gave me an impression of Accelerator doing good, lol. Speaking of voice actors, Haruka Tomatsu (Nagi Kannagi), voices Ayame Ikuraga, I absolutely cannot get over her attractive voice.

Yoichi is definitely someone Kamijou-Touma-esque, with less narrative, annoying self-introspection, and melodrama. His dated personality is justified with the reason of living in the mountains for his entire life, hence removing the melodrama component of such characters. I have always found it weird how characters get into trouble while doing good and do not blame those that criticise or obstruct their “path of good” at the end of the day. These characters sure do have an all-encompassing forgiveness. In any case, I did find it odd for someone to be laughing with a bear… >.>
P.S. The chibi version of Yoichi is adorable, so are his facial expressions.

  1. Asu no Yoichi left a good taste in my mouth and I was pleasantly surprised the main character is not weak. More laughs to follow surely, so I will definitely finish it.
