Maria Holic 3
It is simply curious how unexplained “phenomena” occur in Maria Holic. A vicious alaria creature appears at the end of the episode to challenge Kanoko. there were three possible explanations to it. One, the creature was let out of the bag. Two, the dog grew it. Three, it didn’t happen. I’d be glad if the alaria creature incident was adapted from source material as this supernatural event would be explained, otherwise, the characters will be brainwashed before the next episode and the creature never existed.

Maria Holic 2
I was impressed by the beautiful OP, watching Maria smash the mannequins around just made me wonder what he would do to Kanoko in the future. I do remember reading somewhere that he’s sadistic and cruel. The animation styles used throughout the episode were definitely Shaft-esque and unique, little things like unimportant characters portrayed in an insignificant manner did contribute to an overall effect of appealing animation.
Focusing on the plot, Kanoko has definitely embroiled herself in a complicated situation, the number of new characters introduced was unexpected as I was thinking of Ryuuken helping to extricate Kanoko out of the situation. I’m not sure how the story will develop from now on, but I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for more of those pink faced creatures.
Maria Holic 01
The plot of Maria Holic is sound and good. It follows Kanako who joins Ame no Kisaki in search of a homosexual partner, she meets Shidou Maria, whom she immediately falls for. Kanoko finds out that Maria is in fact crossdressing as a male in an unfortunate incident. She is then subjected to constant observation by Maria. There are many areas for the story to develop at, for example Maria’s reasons for crossdressing and the measures taken to prevent her secret from being revealed. I’m guessing that Kanako would keep the secret to herself initially but soon gets harmed by Maria, highlighting the need for her to bring Maria to the school authorities’ attention.
Whatever that comes in the following episodes would probably be good, along with the show’s splendid animation and voice actors. I had completely forgotten Maria Holic’s producing studio until I watched the first episode, the animation was SHAFT’s, without doubt. With much hope, the quality of episodes will be kept at that of the first, along with the plot…
