After a much anticipated threadbare day at school, I’ve made up my mind as to what anime I would be watching this winter. Do note that the rationale behind this post is to serve as a reminder to me of the airing dates of the shows, hence it contains nothing of significance…

Just watched the early broadcast of Akikan, it turned out to contain less fanservice than what was initially expected. The story goes somewhere along the line of  a student named Kakeru Daichi’s akikan (empty can) transforming into a girl. He eventually names it Melon.

The animation was neither amazing nor horrible, but is close to the negative extreme. All the characters except the guy from the ministry looked weird, the faces are likely at fault. Unfortunately, they are now imprinted in my head, I’ll have a hard time trying to get rid of them.

The plot was not clearly established in the first episode, several questions were left unanswered, for example the motive of the Ministry; which more or less explains what the plot of Akikan. Though viewers are unable to understand the main complication in Akikan, the show is humorous to a certain extent with its sexual references and jokes.

Though the show has its fair share of comedy, it is much predictable that it would have equal portions of fanservice, or manservice in the case of the first episode. All these in addition to a light plot simply hold no huge appeal to me, I’ll probably read its manga instead.

Looks like most of the shows are sequels, of which prequels I have not watched, so I’ll give those a skip. Most of the rest just seem pretty weird, like Asakiyumemishi The Tale of Genji.

So, I just got spoiled pretty badly I must say, and now I’m going to spoil you, nah, not really, just a rather obvious fact revealed. Somehow Nagi had a boyfriend and well may not be a virgin any longer. Some angry fan decided to destroy his collection in view of the revelation, lol. That was either an attempt to express hatred towards Kannagi, or merely a form of attention grabbing activity. I’ll go for the latter. Anyway, these are some pretty poor books, if anyone reading intends on doing something like that, mail them to me instead.

It seems that Bandai will be releasing a visual novel of Toradora sometime in the future, I’m keyed up for it. Though not likely, it is hoped that stores in Singapore would bother selling it.

I got my hands on the newly released Toradora OP single earlier this morning, the cover features Ami, Taiga and Minori; a pretty charming design. The full version of Pre Parade was gratifying despite my initial doubts; I felt TV sized OP seemed to be self sufficient and did not need extensions. Unfortunately that was wrong, the full version of the OP sounded more cheerful and fun than the TV sized version.

Pre-registration for Anime Festival Asia 08 soon to be held in Singapore has been made available to all approximately 15 hours ago.

Rather interested I must say, the convention looks promising from the details provided by the website. AFA 08 is likely to be successful, I’ll probably attend it should there be spare time…
